Socom assisted Mars Australia New Zealand with its crisis preparedness and response during a recall of all Mars® and Snickers® products in New South Wales, after the company received threatening letters from an extortionist. During the seven-week response, Mars received high levels of public and employee support. Once the products were returned to retail shelves, sales were 250% above average during the first week and remained above average for the next four months.
