Campaign:
In late 2006 the Victorian Government made a commitment to establish a state-wide accessible housing program. This was based on the recommendations of the Accessible Housing Taskforce. Key elements of the accessible housing program was the development of a Home for Life guide to assist industry and an educational and promotional campaign.
Our Approach:
Socom worked with the Building Commission to develop the Homes for Life guide. This involved facilitating meetings of the Accessible Housing Technical Working Party, which was established to create industry participation. These meetings brought together representatives from a range of industries related to the development, construction and regulation of housing. Socom provided strategic communication advice and support in the development of the guide.
Results:
The Home for Life guide has become widely recognised as the benchmark for accessible living. It is widely used by the construction industry and clients who are looking to create a more accessible built environment.
