Community Engagement

Socom is passionate about helping organisations engage with their communities. Using practices established by the International Association of Public Participation’s (IAP2), Socom can help your organisation navigate through complex environments containing divergent interests and stakeholders.

As a member of IAP2, Socom has developed and implemented community engagement programs for government at all levels, not-for-profit organisations and private companies, particularly in the infrastructure field.

We recognise that community engagement is not a ‘one size fits all’ situation. We draw on our extensive experience and knowledge to design and implement customised engagement plans to meet your specific needs.

To ensure successful engagement with your communities, Socom will:

  • Work closely with you to build a clear picture of the decision to be made or the issue to be resolved, and who may be impacted;
  • Use desktop research and face-to-face interviews to understand the issues, concerns and interests of the affected stakeholders;
  • Use the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Spectrum of Public Participation to maximise the opportunities for community views to be known;
  • Be flexible in our approach; and
  • Be respectful of all participants and their views in engagement activities.

Socom draws on extensive experience and knowledge to design and implement customised engagement plans to meet specific needs.

In brief...

  • 15 years’ experience working with private enterprise and all levels of government
  • Success with major private developments, EES and works approvals and major public facilities
  • Socom can help you go beyond due diligence and create value for your organisation and its stakeholders
