The South Gippsland Shire Council Plan is a strategic document guiding and directing the organisation over a four year period. As directed by the Local Government Act, each Victorian municipality must adopt a Council Plan every four years or within six months of appointing a new Council.
Campaign:
Socom assisted the Shire to review and update their existing Council Plan to address the 2009-13 horizon. Socom worked closely with the Shire to consult with the newly appointed Councillors, Council officers and the community to redevelop their existing Council Plan.
Our Approach:
Through the redevelopment of the Council Plan a consultation methodology was designed and implemented. This included community consultation by both a 300 resident telephone questionnaire and a survey sent to all community groups. It was also made available to the general community. The consultation captured key issues in the community and gathered feedback on ways the community felt Council could address their needs.
Results:
The resulting 2009-13 Council Plan was streamlined and redesigned to improve its appearance and readability for both the organisation and the community. A separate Action Plan was developed to outline the specific actions Council would take to implement the Council Plan over the next four years.
