Campaign:
Moonee Valley’s Community Plan - MV2020 - Our City, Our Future - was developed in 2006 and outlined the long-term shared vision, values and aspirations of the community. However, the Moonee Valley community is constantly changing and new issues emerge over time. Socom designed and undertook a review to ensure the existing vision and aims still addressed the key priorities and captured any new issues which had arisen since the plan was written.

Our Approach:
A variety of engagement activities were undertaken which included discussions with Council staff, focus groups, community workshops and issues forums. A face-to-face community survey was also conducted at the Mooney Valley festival to specifically target youth and young families, with over 400 interviews being carried out.

Results:
Socom’s engagement methodology resulted in a community-built vision which was reviewed and refined through a process of bringing local people together to openly put forward their ideas, values and aspirations.

The revised Community Plan, MV 2020 - Living together, living well, provides a clear understanding of what the community wants for its future. This ultimately assists Council to develop its strategic plans and policies to help realise the community’s vision.
